Support Our Food Bank

Thanks to the Marin County Real Estate Blog for giving a shout out to the Marin County Community Food Bank. This wonderful organization provides food to low income families and families in the County facing short-term or long term crisis. We know that we are in the midst of hard economic times and this organization is needed more than ever. The Marin Food Bank is also there for all of us in the case of natural disaster, so it is in our best interest to make sure that our food bank is well stocked.

The Giant Turkey is back at the Corte Madera Town Center through December 31st. If you plan to go shopping at the Center, make sure you bring some canned food with you to “feed” the Giant Turkey.

If your kids want to visit Santa at Northgate Shopping Center through December 31st, they can impress Santa by bringing canned food to put on the Christmas Can Tree right behind Santa’s Chair between Macy’s and Applebees. Between now and December 5th, you can reserve tickets to have breakfast with Santa for $3.00 or $5.00 on December 6th, the day of the event (if tickets are left). Proceeds will go to the Food Bank.

The Food Bank also has a store that takes donations of clothing and quality household items you no longer need.

The Marin County Community Food Bank is also collecting paper grocery bags and encourages having your kids decorate bags for delivery. They are also looking for people who own covered trucks and vans to volunteer to pick up food from Schools and other locations bringing them back to the Food Bank. If you have a vegetable garden you can grow a row for the Food Bank.

Yoga for Food, Food for Yoga

On Thursdays at 6:30 pm from December 4 to December 18th, Bikram Yoga San Rafael is offering a Free class if you bring four (4) cans of food for the food bank. They have already donated 192 pounds of food so far and want to donate 500 lbs by the end of December.
