The O and The Joe Edition

Date August 23, 2008

At 2:27 am this morning I received an email announcing Joe Biden as Obama’s VEEP.  I am so glad I didn’t pick the text option.  Anyway, I had already heard on NPR at 1:00 am this morning (we have NPR playing in the bedroom overnight which makes for some crazy news related dreams) that it was most likely Biden was his running mate. According to Politico, CNN had two sources confirming it was Biden.

Despite the fact that Barack did not make me first to know (Sigh!), I was made content by this news.  I slept soundly perhaps with a gentle smile on my face, until I woke up at 5:30 am to make sure I didn’t dream it.

For most of my adult life I watched many of the Senate Judiciary hearings and was always fond of watching Joe Biden. I always found him the sharpest and  wittiest on the committee. It bothers me that he voted to authorize the war, but he was one of the Senators who came out admitting it was a mistake unlike Hillary Clinton. Her unwillingness to say she made a mistake in voting for the war really bothered me and still does.

I am not sure if I can add to the analysis everyone else is offering except that Biden has shown himself to be experienced, charasmatic, smart, funny fighter.  He is not perfect and he has made mistakes, but during  the democratic debates he stood out as a tremendous debator and experienced candidate with incredible knowledge. Damn, Obama and Biden just look good together.

Hurray for The O and The Joe.  Whoopie!
