After a really bad week or two, Carole Migden caught a break last week when a court decided that she could use her old campaign funds for this campaign. The funds, $647,000 may give her campaign a needed shot in the arm or it could be a moot point after all the bad publicity. Note to self: using leftover funds on oneself is bad, but using it for a political campaign is okay.

Joe Nation supporters actually want Carole to stay in the race because Migden and Leno have the ability to split the San Francisco vote. It seems that Nation staying out of the Migden-Leno slugfest may be a smart thing. Let them bruise themselves up, while Nation looks above it all.

Despite the fact she has broken almost 100 campaign finance laws and insulted women at the Democratic Women’s Caucus at the state convention, I think that what seems like her political fall is sad. As a former San Franciscan I have watched her come up in the politics in the City and always admired her fearlessness.
