Election-Eve Edition
March 3, 2008

In what seems like an endless array of debates, primary caucuses and elections, and twists of political punditry and spin, we are faced with yet another primary election in three states plus a Texas Two-Step. A Texas Two-Step refers to the process of a traditional election followed directly by a caucus after the polls close at 7PM Central. I have been told by a local Texan that the caucus should last about an hour. To add to the weirdness, we have marriage of republican-inspired gerrymanderin’ and democratic party vindictiveness over past voter turnout.
Yesterday I spent three hours over at this amazing home in San Anselmo calling Texans for Obama. We had a huge turnout and we spread out across the house that had an impressive level of cell phone reception. We quickly surmised that we were calling republicans and independents. We did get a small number of Obama voters and a small portion of those who are or going to vote republican. The rest were not at home and got a really nice message on their machines. Together we were able to dial 700 phone calls in three hours.
Brad Breithaupt of the Marin IJ, just reported that Marin gave the biggest win for Obama among California counties. After all the provisional ballots have been counted, Marin gave Obama 56.4% of the vote topping Mono County with 54.6%. Humbolt County voted 53.7% for Obama. This just goes to show that Northern California needs a voice among our Northern California Superdelegates. Woolsey and Migden, are you listening?
There is going to be an Marin for Obama Election Night party over at Eat Restaurant and Bar at 218 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, San Anselmo. We will be meeting from 5pm to whenever. Eat has a couple of flat-screen televisions, wifi access, steak, flame broiled burgers, and Politics — glorious politics.
Come join us.
There will be a Texas/Ohio Results Watch Party in Sonoma on March 4th at Pizzaria Capri. Pizzaria Capri is located at 1266 Broadway, Sonoma, CA. Like us they will be meeting starting at 5pm.
