Post-Memorial Day Wrap Up

Date June 18, 2006

- On our way home from Novato, we witnessed a police chase on South 101. It was quite exciting with no less than 3 police cars (that we saw), heliocopter, and a Highway patrol plane tracking the car. They finally caught and arrested two of the three dangerous home invasion criminals by putting down a strip. Score one for the good guys.

- DFA- Marin, the local chapter of Howard Dean’s group is recommending Lynn Woolsey, Phil Angelides, Jackie Speier, Debra Bowen, Jerry Brown, John Alden, and Cliff Meneken. They are also saying yes to both Propositions. The Marin Democrats are endorsing Bill Lockyer, Cruz Bustamante, Betty Yee, Judy Arnold (Novato Supervisor), and Patty Burke and Pat Guasco (Ross Valley Sanitary District). They are also endorsing Cliff Meneken, Debra Bowen, and Angelides.

- This weekend we had a wonderful walk over at Gallinas Creek which is full of all kinds of birds, wildflowers, lizards, and all kinds of natural beauty. Too bad there are forces who want to pave over it. Folks over at GallinasCreek.org are claiming that Joe Shekou, the developer who wants to build a 2.5 acre sports complex in a middle of wetlands habitat is now trying to silence residents and activists with SLAPP suits. They also claim that Mayor Al Boro and the San Rafael City Council are more interested in helping developers instead of the interests of their constituents. They think that the Mayor and the Council is sitting on their hands and allowing developers to abuse residents.
